Tierra Mia Coffee

Tierra Mia Coffee is a coffee shop based in Los Angeles offering Latin-inspired coffee, beverages and pastries.

Their shop designs are contemporary and reflective of the Latin American culture; comfortable using shades of creamy white, light brown to deep espresso colors.

They roast their own coffee and handcraft their artisan beverages featuring art work on their lattes. They buy micro lot coffee which is often more expensive than fair trade prices. This allows the farmers whom they buy their coffee beans to earn higher incomes.

Besides coffee, they also offer original drinks with South American flavors like Mocha Mexicano, Horchata Latte, Cubano con Leche, Coco Loco Latte, and Horchata Frappe. They also offer muffins and pastries which are baked fresh daily.

I ordered the Coco Loco Latte which is a latte with coconut flavor. It is foamy and taste creamy and decadent with a heavy coconut flavor. It is served in a wide coffee mug with the milk added in art form.  They use real mug, plate and fork.

With the latte I also ordered Tres Leches muffin. The muffin is not overly sweet. Tres Leches is a South American flavor which is made with a combination of several types of milk: whole milk, condensed milk, evaporated milk and cream. The muffin is very moist because of the tres leches syrup and also very decadent.

Tierra Mia’s coffee shops are located in Downtown Los Angeles and several shops in East Los Angeles where there is a heavy concentration of Latinos.

The only thing that baffles me is the use of dead and brown palm plant as a decor. The dead palm plant is in a pot which indicates they have not taken cared of the plant. They could have thrown away the dead plant.

Compared to other coffee shops such as Starbucks, Tierra Mia Coffee is a much better place to get your coffee, latte, baked products and pastries.

  1. This is the Starbucks with Mexican flair. Pastries here are much better than Starbucks pastries their drinks are much more creative than Starbucks or even Coffee Bean.

  2. Tierra Mia has some of the best drinks out there I wish they had more locations open in Orange County but this location in South Gate is the closest to home. Love their drinks specially the Horchata Frapp. The place is very well kept and clean, crew are very nice and helpful. This is a crazy good place.

  3. Their pastries and muffin are very good, it’s like eating a cake but in muffin form, and surprisingly still so moist like most cakes. I always get a muffin every time I go there. The tres leches muffin is my fav.

The only problem with this particular location is there is no parking most of the time the Pico Rivera has more parking.

    • I agree their pastries are really good and decadent, I tried the Tres Leches muffin like the one in the picture above and really liked it, very rich and decadent not your usual donut shop muffin.

  4. I have read all but very good reviews so decided to get a drink when I was in Los Angeles, not as great as I expected. I’ve been wanting to come here since I heard about the craze about the horchata frapp.

The pastries are overly decadent and super sweet had the tres leches muffin like the one in the picture and it is super sweet.

  5. This place has the tastiest fuse of Latino coffee flavors and it is amazing love horchata frappe and tres leches muffin so amazing. These are the flavors that makes your day complete.

The only problem is the lack of parking almost always nowhere to park.

  6. The drink I like best is the Chocolate Mexicano Frappe is is so delish I don’t normally get any pastry as they are very decadently good.

My only beef with the South Gate location is the lack of parking, parking is very small and is always full.

  7. Visited Tierra Mia when I was in Los Angeles and liked it. Had the Almond Dulce De Leche croissant which is a croissant with Mexican twist, the outside is flaky and the inside is soft and the Dulce De Leche filling is nice too not overly sweet. Their other pastries look very yummy too. Had the HNorchata Frap and it is delish!!!

  8. I was in South Gate yesterday and passed by Tierra Mia to have a taste of what they have. Fisrt of
    – The service is good, service crew are friendly
    – Place is clean and neat
    – Their drinks are yummy it’s like Starbucks with a Latin flair. I had the Mocha Mexicano and it was delightful not overly sweet and abit bitter from the cocoa which must be real cocoa.

I will definitely be back when I am in the area.
